Sunday Snippet Vol. 12

*Summertime*

I feel like summer is the weekend of the seasons. We work hard throughout the previous months in order to play hard in the summer. Everything is a little more relaxed.  The days are longer, the heat of the sun awakens the senses, our sun-kissed skin makes us feel a sense of comfort, we indulge in the sweeter things of life, we stay up a little later, go out more, we embrace the things around us.  The season comes and goes so quickly leaving us with fond memories, a sense of nostalgia, and motivation to get through the coming year to make the best of next summer.

I leave you with a few summer scenes...XO

Sunday Snippet Vol.11

It is the first time in a while that I am sitting in front of the computer in my little studio/office space writing to you... Life has been quite enjoyable lately, and I have been taking loads of photos to commemorate.  I think I might have to sit here and go through them all, pick out some "gems" and do a whole "my-life-lately" post.  We've been to a fair, had some out of country visitors, enjoyed the beach, celebrated some birthdays - including Americas, and of course had tons of little adventures.. Summer is in full-effect.  I am feeling that Summer love. My skin is sun-kissed. I have been on a road to committing to my fitness.  I'm running and working out just about every day.  I am feeling grateful for so many things right now. Life just moves so fast.  I cannot believe it is July and Zoey will be two at the end of August.  I can no longer say her age in months.  She will be 2 years old.   She is so incredible, as most parents must feel about their children. I just want to take her all in, and never forget her like this.... Parenthood is an adventure that I am really enjoying. It's unbelievable.  We just had quite a perfect weekend, spending time at the beach, having one lazy rainy day of leisure, spending time outside drawing on the sidewalk, and ending it with a stroll through the neighborhood to get ice cream and running into our bestest friends.

It was one for the books!

I leave you with a couple of shots from our day at the beach....

John Mayer

I went to see Dead & Company this weekend at Citi Field, NYC.  IT was a great show, and it was a friendly reminder to how amazing John Mayer is.  He is one of those artists that I feel like I am always defending, or trying to sell others on him... I feel like he gets a bad rep due to his career as a teenage pop star, but he is quite the rock star, and I have known that for years... I have seen him live many of times, as well as spent countless hours on YouTube seeing what kind of live performances I can dig up.  He is super talented.. I would say he ranks high on the metaphoric list of top guitarists, he can hang with the best of them.

After Mr. Mayer put out Continuum, it seems like he kind of went for the type of music he is passionate about.  Don't think "Your Body is a Wonderland", when you think of John Mayer...... He is so much more than that.  I have gotten a few friends to go see him live with me, that includes my husband, and other normal male beings :) --They were all so pleasantly surprised.  He deserves the respect and recognition for the talented artist he is.  He played the shit out of some Grateful Dead.  I totally got lost in the jams - had those mid song moments where your brought back to some lyrics, and you're like, "Oh right! that's what song this is."  Amazing.   It was a beautiful night, we saw the sun set over Citi field, there was a hint of a chill in the air that may have smelled mostly of herbs ;), and I was with my wild and free girl friend, taking it all in...

I, personally, think that the way he plays guitar, brings out how attractive he is.  I never was very attracted to him prior to knowing his guitar skills, but then once I saw him strummin'....Wow! :)  I am like that though... Musicians make me a little weak in the knees...Why is that? Is it the passion? Passion can be so beautiful...

Sunday Snippet Vol. 10

I am going to keep this real short and sweet, so that I can go lay in bed with my husband and watch the NBA finals on Father's Day, before the work week begins.  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, by the way.  Hope everyone had a special day.

I am going to take this moment to make a vow to commit to my physical fitness. To focus on my diet and exercise more. I've been on a bit of an exercise hiatus and I am not feeling good about myself.  I complain about it, and know that I only have myself to blame.  So, I want to document it here that I need to step it up...and get myself back into the shape I once was in.   Maybe set some goals, take some before pictures, and really get myself regimented in some sort of way... It's beyond time..

Night night. Xo

Random Thought

Today I had a random thought about homeless people in New York City.... I saw one camping out and was like, "why would you want to camp out on the filthy streets of NYC? Why wouldn't you go setup camp in nature somewhere, forage and hunt, and live amongst nature." And then my logic kicked in and was like well I guess New York City has big promise for pan-handlers and beggars because of the high amount of foot traffic and you can "hunt and forage" the trash.... Do homeless people come from all over to live on the streets of NYC?

Sunday Snippet Vol. 9

Some people are really great at overcomplicating things.... It's one of my pet peeves.  I am someone who kind of does things without worrying too much about intricate details I guess.  I  just like to roll with the punches and take things as they come. I have faith in myself that I  will be able to deal with whatever comes my way.  It may not always be the best way to be, but some people take forever to get things done just because they are QUESTIONING and WORRYING about too many things that may NEVER occur or even matter... WHY?!  I am also probably a little more easy-going than most.  I don't need things to be perfect always, and I kind of trust that things will always be alright.  I also would say that one of my better qualities is resourcefulness.  I know how to get things done, and not panic when presented with a situation that is less than perfect.  Sometimes when I am around people who are questioning and worrying about the what ifs, it makes me feel like they are putting their negative thoughts into the universe and they will make those things happen.

Sunday Snippet Vol. 8

I have been passionate about taking photos for years.... I vividly remember receiving my first camera at a young age, I had many dress up photo shoots with my childhood friends, I was always the camera toting friend out at the bar, on class field trips, vacations, parties, etc.  I loved playing with angles and light.  Pictures have been a constant in my life since I can remember.  I always had boxes of photos that I would go through and reminisce, and I always enjoyed going through the albums of photos my parents kept.  When social media first came into my life, what I loved most was viewing all the photos people posted...Instagram has become one of my favorite "creative outlets", it's a place where I can draw inspiration from, as well as experiment with different photo techniques.  I frequently enjoy looking through my Instagram feed and seeing my progress...I feel like I have learned quite a bit, and I hope to continue getting better and better.   I admittedly post photos that aren't that great, that I am not completely happy with, but it's all a learning experience.  I love the collage those tiny little boxes make, the stories they tell, the color themes...

Goodnight! Happy Sunday!
